Description
The washing machine door lock is one of the appliance's most important safety-critical components.
It holds the door firmly shut throughout the wash cycle, prevents the machine from operating with the door open, and releases the door only after the drum has safely stopped and the water has drained.
This replacement lock matches the original part's specifications and performance, so it mounts on the original bracket, connects to the existing wiring harness, and interacts with the control board exactly as the factory part did. When the door lock fails, the machine either will not start because it cannot detect a locked door, or will not release the door at the end of the cycle — and in the worst case it may allow the door to be opened mid-wash, which is a safety hazard. Fitting the correct replacement restores both the reliability and the safety the appliance was designed with.
May fit more models than shown, including machines from Whirlpool, Smeg, Lamona, and Leisure.

Safety note: Isolate the appliance from both the mains supply and the water supply before carrying out any work, and allow the machine to drain fully. The door lock operates on mains voltage — never work on it while the appliance is connected to the power. Check the condition of the door striker and hinge while the lock is removed, as a worn striker can cause a new lock to fail prematurely. Confirm the replacement lock matches the original in terminal layout, mounting bracket and connector type before fitting.

Common Faults & SymptomsThe following fault codes and symptoms are commonly reported when a washing machine door lock begins to fail. Use this as a diagnostic guide before ordering a replacement — if more than one of these is present, the lock is the likely culprit. 1
BEKO E17 OR E18 ERROR CODE
These codes appear when the control board does not detect the door as locked or unlocked within the expected time. In most cases the fault lies with the door lock itself, though a faulty striker plate or damaged wiring can produce the same code.

BEKO E05 ERROR CODE
The E05 code indicates a door lock or door mechanism fault. The machine senses that the door is not secured and will not begin a cycle. Check that the striker is correctly engaging with the lock before assuming the lock itself is at fault.

DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND MACHINE WILL NOT START
The most common symptom. The door closes normally and feels secure, but the machine refuses to begin a cycle or beeps when Start is pressed. This usually means the lock mechanism is not engaging or the sensor inside the lock has failed, so the control board never receives a signal that the door is secure.

DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK AT THE END OF THE CYCLE
The cycle finishes normally but the door stays locked and cannot be opened. This is usually caused by a failed release solenoid or a jammed mechanism inside the lock. Do not force the door — the handle or hinge will break before the lock does, and the door should be released using the manual release tab if one is fitted, or by replacing the lock.

MACHINE STOPS MID-CYCLE WITH DOOR ERROR
If the machine stops mid-cycle and displays a door-related error, the lock has lost its signal or has failed internally during operation. The drum will not spin while the machine believes the door is unlocked, so the cycle aborts for safety. The lock must be replaced.

DOOR CAN BE OPENED WHILE THE DRUM IS STILL MOVING

Tradesman Warning
Do not arrange a tradesman until your goods have arrived and been checked. We do not cover tradesman costs due to transit delays or suitability issues.
