Compatible Mains interference Filter
Replacement Mains Interference Filter – compatible with Ariston, Bauknecht, Bosch, Gorenje, Hotpoint, Ignis, Indesit and Whirlpool washing machines as shown unless advised otherwise
Description
A replacement mains interference filter, sometimes called a radio interference suppressor or power line filter, for the washing machines listed below. The filter sits between the incoming mains supply and the appliance's internal wiring, and it prevents electrical noise generated by the motor, heater, and other components from travelling back up the power cable and disturbing other equipment in the home.
The most common source of this interference is the electrical arc that forms between the motor brushes and the commutator as the motor turns under load. Without an effective filter, that noise can radiate through the mains wiring and affect radios, televisions, broadband routers and other sensitive electronics. This compatible unit matches the electrical characteristics and mounting arrangement of the original filter used in these appliances.
Interference filters fail in a number of ways. The most common is a breakdown of the internal capacitor or suppressor components, which often produces a sharp burning smell and visible scorching or cracking of the filter body. In more serious cases, the filter can fail in a way that leaves dangerous voltage present on the metal casing of an unearthed machine, creating a genuine electric shock risk. A failing filter may also cause the appliance to trip the household RCD or blow the plug fuse, particularly when the machine is first plugged in or when the motor starts. Because the filter is a sealed component, internal failure is not always visible from the outside, and diagnosis usually involves checking for continuity and insulation resistance rather than a visual inspection alone. This mains interference filter will only fit the models shown or as specifically advised, and will not fit any others—even if it looks the same, it probably will not be, as several look alike but are not. Take time to ensure this is correct before ordering, and ask for assistance if you are unsure.
Technical Notes
Specifications: Type: mains interference filter / radio interference suppressor. Capacitance: 0.68µF + 2 x 22pF. Inductance: 2 x 1mH. Resistance: 470k. Voltage rating: 250V AC. Frequency: 50–60Hz. Connection: spade terminals. Mounting: panel or chassis mount with screw fixings. Product code: D068003.
Fitment guidance: This mains interference filter is known to fit only the Ariston, Bauknecht, Bosch, Gorenje, Hotpoint, Ignis, Indesit and Whirlpool washing machine models listed below. The model number is normally found on the rating plate inside the door aperture, on the rear casing, or behind the lower service flap. Because several mains filters look almost identical while differing in electrical ratings and terminal layout, always confirm the model number against the compatibility list rather than relying on appearance alone.
Diagnostic tip: Before ordering, isolate the appliance from the mains and remove the top lid or rear panel to access the filter. Inspect the filter body for signs of scorching, cracking or a burning smell — these are the most obvious signs of failure. Test the filter with a multimeter set to resistance: the input and output terminals of each line should show continuity, while there should be no continuity between the live or neutral terminals and earth. A very low or zero reading between live/neutral and earth indicates a breakdown and confirms the filter needs replacing. Also check that the machine is correctly earthed and that the plug and socket are in good condition before concluding the filter is at fault. If the machine trips the RCD before any cycle starts, the filter is a strong candidate.
Installation guide: 1. Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply at the wall and unplug it. 2. Remove the top lid and rear panel to access the mains filter. 3. Note the position and orientation of all connections, then photograph or label the wiring. 4. Disconnect the spade terminals from the filter, taking care not to pull on the wires. 5. Remove the screws securing the filter to its mounting bracket and lift it out. 6. Fit the new filter in position and secure it with the original screws. 7. Reconnect the terminals to the correct tags, checking against your notes. 8. Refit the panels and lid. 9. Plug the machine back in, restore the power and run a short cycle to confirm correct operation and check that the RCD does not trip.
Safety note: This component operates at mains voltage and can retain a charge even after the appliance is disconnected. Always isolate the supply at the wall before working on the filter, and never work with wet hands. If the machine has been tripping the RCD or showing voltage on the casing, treat it as a serious electrical fault and do not use the appliance until the filter has been replaced and the machine re-tested. Do not bypass or remove the filter — it is a safety component as well as an interference suppressor.

Common Faults & SymptomsThe following fault codes and symptoms are commonly reported when this part begins to fail. Use this as a diagnostic guide before ordering a replacement — if more than one of these is present, the part is the likely culprit. 1
Appliance Completely Dead (No Power, No Display)
The machine is plugged into a proven working socket but shows no signs of life at all — no display, no lights, no response to the power button. This is one of the most common signs of a failed mains interference filter, because the filter sits directly in the supply path and can open-circuit internally. Check the plug fuse first, then test for voltage at the filter input terminals to confirm the supply is reaching it.
2
RCD Trips Immediately on Plug-In
The household earth leakage device trips the instant the machine is plugged in, before any cycle is started or any button is pressed. This points to a fault upstream of the cycle logic — in other words, in the filter or the wiring between the plug and the filter. A shorted filter capacitor is the usual cause. Do not keep resetting the RCD and trying again; isolate the machine and test the filter.
3
Burning Smell or Visible Scorching Around the Filter
A sharp smell of burning wiring or a visible scorch mark on the filter body is a strong indicator that the internal capacitor or suppressor has failed. In some cases the filter will be visibly cracked or swollen. If you can smell burning, stop using the machine immediately and isolate it at the wall — a failed filter can be a fire risk as well as an electrical hazard.
4
Electric Shock From the Machine Casing
If you feel a tingle or shock when touching the metalwork of an unearthed washing machine, the filter may have failed in a way that is allowing mains voltage to reach the casing. This is a serious safety hazard and the machine must be disconnected immediately. Do not use the appliance again until the filter has been replaced and the earthing checked.
5
Interference on Nearby Radios, TVs or Broadband
If you notice crackling, buzzing or picture disturbance on a radio, television or broadband router when the washing machine is running, the filter is no longer suppressing electrical noise effectively. This is often an early warning that the filter is degrading, and it can worsen over time until the filter fails completely. Test by running the machine and listening for interference on a nearby radio.
6
Plug Fuse Blows Repeatedly
If the fuse in the plug blows as soon as the machine is switched on, or repeatedly during use, the filter may be drawing excessive current due to an internal short. Before replacing the filter, check the plug wiring and the mains lead for damage, and confirm the correct fuse rating is fitted. If the fuse blows again with a new filter, further investigation is required.
7
Ariston / Indesit / Hotpoint Error Code F01
F01 indicates a motor control (triac) short circuit on the control board. While this is often a board fault, water ingress or electrical noise from a failing filter can contribute to erratic board behaviour. If the machine shows F01 alongside symptoms of electrical instability, check the filter and the earthing before replacing the board.
8
Bosch / Siemens Error Code E01 or F01
A general electronic fault code that can appear when the control board detects an unstable supply or a fault in the power circuit. On machines where the mains filter has failed, the board may log this code intermittently. Check the supply voltage at the filter and inspect the filter for signs of damage before condemning the control board.
9
Whirlpool Error Code F08 or F09
On Whirlpool machines, F08 and F09 are often associated with water level or heating faults, but they can also appear when the control board receives unstable power. Where the mains filter is failing, the supply to the board can fluctuate, triggering intermittent error codes that do not correspond to a genuine water or heater fault. Check the filter and supply stability before replacing other components.
10
Intermittent Power Loss or Random Shutdowns
The machine may start a cycle normally but then lose power partway through, or shut down and restart without warning. This can happen when the filter's internal connections have become intermittent due to heat cycling or a partially failed capacitor. Check the spade terminals on the filter for tightness and signs of arcing before replacing.
Before Ordering, Check These First
Disclaimer: The fault codes and symptoms listed above are intended as a general guide to assist with diagnosis. They cannot be taken as a definitive diagnosis of any particular problem, and other components may produce similar symptoms. Dishwasher Spare Parts.
Get the right part first time, save money, and avoid costly mistakes. Dishwashers are precision‑engineered — even parts that look identical can differ in wattage, dimensions, or fitment. We’re here to help you order with confidence.
Locate Your Model Number
The rating plate (data badge) is your most important tool. It holds the exact model and serial number needed to match the correct part. Look inside the door, on the door frame, or along the bottom edge. Never rely on visual comparison alone — many parts look nearly identical but are position‑specific or model‑dependent.
Verified & Vetted Stock
We don't list every generic part on the market. Our catalogue is built from decades of repair experience — we only stock components that commonly fail or that our own technicians use. This means less noise, faster searches, and a much higher chance of getting the right fix without wading through irrelevant results.
⚠️ Images & Sizes for Illustration Only
Component parts may vary in shape, size, colour, or moulding from the images shown. Manufacturers frequently update designs or alter specifications without changing the part number.
CRITICAL: Heating elements, door seals, pumps, spray arms, and control boards are highly model‑specific. Do not rely solely on how a part looks — verify via your model number or ask our team. Ordering the wrong part wastes time and money.
Genuine vs. Compatible
Genuine (OEM) — made by the original brand to exact factory specs. Guaranteed fit, finish, and longevity.
Compatible (Aftermarket) — third‑party alternatives that match OEM dimensions and performance. Often significantly cheaper, and we only list those we've tested and trust.
Common Symptoms & Likely Parts
- Won’t start → door interlock, control board
- Water not heating → heating element, thermostat
- Poor cleaning → spray arms, circulation pump
- Not draining → drain pump, pressure switch
- Leaking → door seal, sump gasket, inlet valve
- Error codes → sensor or wiring harness

Cost-Effective Spare Parts
Save Money On
Spare Parts.
Cost-compatible spare parts are not generic “one-size-fits-all” items. They fall into several categories, and care must be taken to ensure the replacement is fully appropriate for your appliance.
How Compatible Parts Work
Most cost-compatible parts are the same components originally used by the manufacturer but sourced from a different supplier. Often, the brand on your appliance did not manufacture every part themselves. Clever sourcing allows us to provide the exact same part — at a lower cost — sometimes even using a different manufacturer’s part number.
Choosing The Right Replacement
Some compatible parts are excellent, offering the same performance as the original. Others are very cheap but may fail quickly. We evaluate parts before listing and provide guidance so you can avoid low-quality replacements.
Obsolete or Universal Parts
Some original parts are no longer available, so compatible alternatives are the only option. Universal parts may also be used. We only list replacements we trust to ensure quality and fit, protecting you from poor-performing components.
