Replacement dishwasher upper spray arm – compatible with Ariston, Creda, Gorenje, Hotpoint, Indesit, Midea, Scholtes and Whirlpool as shown unless advised otherwise

Check your dishwasher model number to ensure a guaranteed fit.

Description

Restore sparkling clean dishes on the top rack with this genuine upper spray arm. As an original component, it matches the arm fitted at the factory, with the same length, nozzle positioning, and mounting clip design.

The arm rotates during the wash cycle, directing pressurised water through its nozzles onto the dishes in the upper basket. Manufactured from durable, food-safe plastic, it is designed to withstand the heat and detergent of daily dishwasher use without cracking or warping. A genuine arm ensures the correct spray pattern and water distribution, so glasses, cups, and bowls come out consistently clean.

This upper spray arm is only known to fit the models as shown or as advised and will not fit any others because even if it looks the same, it probably won't be. There are often several that look alike but aren't; please take time to confirm this is correct before ordering. If you are unsure, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask for assistance. This part is also confirmed to fit dishwashers from a wide range of additional brands listed in the compatibility section below.

Upper spray arms commonly fail through clogged nozzles, cracked arms, or a broken mounting clip that prevents the arm from rotating. When the arm cannot spin freely, water isn't distributed evenly, leaving food residue on the top rack and often causing a rattling or scraping noise during the cycle. This genuine replacement matches the original part's specifications and performance, restoring proper water coverage and cleaning results.

Common Faults & Symptoms

The following fault codes and symptoms are commonly reported when this part begins to fail. Use this as a diagnostic guide before ordering a replacement — if more than one of these is present, the part is the likely culprit.

1
Dishes on the Top Rack Not Cleaning Properly
The most common symptom of a failing upper spray arm. Glasses, cups and bowls on the top rack come out with food residue, spots or a greasy film, while the lower rack cleans normally. This happens when the arm cannot rotate freely or its nozzles are clogged, so water is not distributed evenly across the upper basket.
2
Spray Arm Not Rotating During the Cycle
If you open the dishwasher mid-cycle and the upper arm is always in the same position, it is not rotating. This can be caused by a broken mounting clip, a cracked arm, or debris blocking the bearing. A stationary arm leaves large areas of the upper basket unwashed.
3
Rattling or Scraping Noise During the Wash
A damaged or loose spray arm can knock against the upper basket or the dishwasher door as it turns. This produces a rattling or scraping sound that is often most noticeable during the wash and rinse stages. Prolonged contact can damage the arm further and may scratch the door interior.
4
Visible Cracks or Broken Mounting Clip
Remove the spray arm and inspect it in good light. Look for cracks along the body of the arm, broken or missing mounting clips, and cracks around the bearing. A cracked arm may still rotate but will spray water unevenly. A broken clip will prevent the arm from staying attached to the upper basket or the water supply tube.
5
Error Code F5 (Ariston / Indesit) — Spray Arms Blocked
Displayed by Ariston and Indesit dishwashers when the control module detects that the spray arms are not rotating correctly. The machine may stop the cycle or fail to clean properly. Check that the upper arm is not obstructed by dishes or cutlery, and that the nozzles are clear. If the code returns after cleaning, the spray arm may need replacing.
6
Error Code F09 (Hotpoint) — Software Error / Spray Arm Fault
Hotpoint dishwashers may display F09 when there is a communication fault between the control board and the spray arm system. In many cases the spray arm is physically obstructed or the motor that drives it is failing. Check the arm for damage and confirm it rotates freely by hand before assuming the control board is at fault.
7
Error Code F6 (Whirlpool) — Water Circulation Fault
Whirlpool dishwashers display F6 when the water circulation system is not working correctly. A blocked or broken upper spray arm can restrict the flow of water through the circulation pump, triggering this code. Check the spray arm nozzles for blockages and confirm the arm rotates freely before inspecting the circulation pump itself.
8
Error Code F10 / F11 / F12 (Gorenje) — Spray Arm or Water Fault
Gorenje dishwashers may display F10 (overfilling), F11 (water outlet fault) or F12 (water inlet fault) when the spray arm is not rotating correctly or water cannot circulate. While these codes can indicate other issues, a blocked or damaged upper spray arm is a common cause of poor water distribution. Check the arm and the filters before diagnosing a more serious fault.

Fitment Guidance

This upper spray arm is compatible only with the models listed in the compatibility matrix above. It is also confirmed to fit dishwashers from a wide range of additional brands, so even if your appliance is not shown, contact our parts advisors with your full model number before ordering.

  • The model number is usually found on a rating plate on the inner edge of the dishwasher door, on the side of the tub behind the door seal, or on the rear panel.
  • For Hotpoint, Indesit and Ariston models, the rating plate is often located on the side of the door or on the rear of the appliance.
  • Compare the full model number against the compatibility list above, including any suffix after the forward slash.
  • Check that the mounting clip on your existing spray arm matches the fitting on this replacement, and that the length is the same.
  • If the model number is not listed, contact our parts advisors with your full model number, as this arm fits more models than are shown.

Diagnostic Tips

Before concluding that the spray arm has failed, carry out these checks to rule out other causes. Most require only a visual inspection.

  • Visual inspection: Remove the upper basket and examine the spray arm for cracks, splits, or a broken mounting clip. Check the nozzles for food debris or limescale blockage.
  • Rotation test: With the basket removed, spin the arm by hand. It should rotate freely and smoothly. If it feels stiff or gritty, the bearing may be worn or debris is trapped inside.
  • Water flow test: Run a short rinse cycle and watch the spray arm through the door. It should rotate continuously and spray water evenly from all nozzles. If it stutters or stops, the arm or the water supply tube is blocked.
  • Nozzle cleaning: Use a toothpick or thin wire to clear any debris from the spray nozzles. Soaking the arm in a vinegar solution can help dissolve limescale.
  • Check the water supply tube: Ensure the tube that feeds water to the upper spray arm is not kinked, cracked, or disconnected. A damaged tube will prevent the arm from receiving enough water to rotate.
  • Filter check: Confirm that the filter system in the base of the dishwasher is clean and correctly fitted. A blocked filter can reduce water pressure and affect spray arm performance.

Installation Guide

These steps describe the general procedure for replacing a dishwasher upper spray arm. The exact sequence varies between models, so always consult the appliance manual where available.

  1. Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and turn off the water inlet.
  2. Open the dishwasher door and pull out the upper basket. If necessary, remove the upper basket entirely to improve access.
  3. Locate the mounting nut or clip that secures the spray arm to the upper basket or the water supply tube.
  4. Release the mounting nut by turning it counter-clockwise, or release the clip by pressing the retaining tab. Lift the old spray arm away.
  5. Clean the water supply tube and the mounting area, removing any food debris or limescale.
  6. Position the new spray arm on the mounting point, aligning the feed hole with the water supply tube.
  7. Secure the arm with the mounting nut or clip. Turn the nut clockwise until it is hand-tight, or press the clip until it clicks into place.
  8. Spin the arm by hand to confirm it rotates freely and does not catch on the basket or the door.
  9. Refit the upper basket and close the door. Restore the mains supply and water inlet.
  10. Run a short rinse cycle and check that the spray arm rotates during operation and that the dishes are cleaned evenly.

Before Ordering, Check These First

  • Verify your full model number against the compatibility list above, including any suffix after the forward slash.
  • If your model is not listed, contact our parts advisors with your full model number, as this arm fits more models than are shown.
  • Check that the mounting clip and arm length match your existing spray arm before ordering.
  • Clean the spray arm nozzles and the filter system before concluding the arm has failed.
  • Confirm that the water supply tube to the upper arm is intact and not kinked or disconnected.
  • Contact our parts advisors if any doubt remains about fitment before placing your order.

Disclaimer: The fault codes and symptoms listed above are intended as a general guide to assist with diagnosis. Hotpoint Beko Europe & Whirlpool Group Specialist

Hotpoint
Spare Parts.

Hotpoint remains Britain's most ubiquitous appliance brand. Following the 2005 Indesit acquisition and subsequent Whirlpool ownership, it is now part of Beko Europe. This legacy means components are shared across Hotpoint, Indesit, Ariston, and Whirlpool machines globally.

The Data Accuracy Requirement

Hotpoint production involves constant technical revisions. To guarantee fitment, we require the Full Model, Industrial Code, or Serial Number. A part that looks identical may have different terminal configurations or thermostat tolerances.
