Oven Lower Heating Element
Replacement lower oven heating element used in the models shown produced by Smeg
Description
This heating element will only fit the Smeg oven and cooker models listed below or as specifically advised. It will not fit any other models – even if a part looks the same, it probably will not be compatible, as several similar‑looking elements are not interchangeable.
Please take time to ensure this is the correct part before ordering. If you are unsure, please contact us for assistance.
Applies to some models:

Technical Notes

For products manufactured before the modification, the new support must also be ordered. This component is NOT interchangeable. If you are unsure, contact our spare parts team for assistance.

Oven Heating Elements.
Cooker and oven lower element failures are usually easy to diagnose because the oven will only partially heat or not heat up as it should.
Functionality
You’ll often find that the lower or base oven element is only found in static ovens (not fan-driven) on multi-function ovens. These base elements usually work in conjunction with other heating elements to provide an even spread of heat throughout the cooking cavity.
DIY Installation
Changing many lower base heating elements can be tricky; some are downright awkward! It’s therefore advised only for those with good DIY skills. In almost all cases, built-in models must be removed from the housing and panels removed to access the element.
Critical Safety Notice
As always, when working on electrical appliances like ovens and cookers, isolate the appliance from the mains power for safety. Never work in a cooker or oven that’s live, as it’s highly dangerous.
Component Quality
Base elements can be the victim of cheap and poor-quality parts that fail sooner if they work at all, and they can be poorly constructed, making them harder to fit. That being said, there are sometimes good-quality compatible elements available if it’s a common part or if it frequently fails.
IMAGES AND SIZES ARE FOR ILLUSTRATION ONLY
Parts may vary in shape and size to the images shown as parts are model-specific and subject to change or alteration at any time without notice. This spare part will only fit the models as described in the listing unless specifically advised otherwise by us.
NOTE: Some oven heating elements and related components vary significantly depending on the model. Please take care when ordering and don't rely solely on images as they can look nearly identical!

Experts In
Smeg Spare Parts.
Smeg appliances are design icons, but their internal components are often shared with other brands. We use this overlap to save you money.
The Alternative Part Advantage
Smeg parts are frequently used across multiple brands. We identify when an "alternative" part is actually the exact same component from the same factory, just without the Smeg-branded packaging. This allows us to offer some of the lowest prices in the UK.
Fast Dispatch
Most common Smeg spares are stocked in the UK and ready for quick dispatch.
Specialist factory orders typically arrive within 7-10 working days, but some may take longer as advised.
Smeg Identification Requirements
Increasingly, Smeg requires the Service Index and Serial Number to determine the exact component revision. We cannot guarantee accuracy without these.
Understanding Smeg "Compatible" Spares
While some "pattern" parts are sometimes low-cost knock-offs, many of our compatible Smeg spares are Equivalent Replacements. That is to say, the same part only in different packaging.
Often, these are the original parts sourced directly from the component manufacturer (like Plaset, Askoll, or EGO) without the Smeg branding on the box.
Let Us Guide You
Trying to fathom which alternative is safe can be a challenge. We will always be honest with you: if a compatible part is high quality, we'll offer you both the original and the saving. If it's junk, we won't sell it.
