Genuine hob pan support buffer kit – identical to the original factory-fitted buffers for Zanussi, Electrolux, REX-Electrolux and IKEA cookers & hobs as shown unless advised otherwise

Check your cooker & hob model number to ensure a guaranteed fit.

Description

This is a genuine hob pan support buffer kit, supplied with the same small rubber feet fitted at the factory, which press into the locating holes on the underside of the pan support grids and keep them clear of the hob surface.

The buffers do a small but important job: they cushion the pan support's weight, stop the metal grid from grinding against the glass or stainless steel hob when you lift it on and off for cleaning, and help keep the stand level over the burners.

Once the original feet have perished, hardened or gone missing, the pan support starts to mark the hob surface and no longer sits flat. Fitting the genuine replacement restores both the protection and the stability the appliance was designed with.

This buffer kit includes 12 rubber feet, enough to re-buffer the pan support grids on the models listed and keep a few spare for future use. The buffers are a consumable item—repeated exposure to hob heat gradually hardens and shrinks the rubber, and replacing them regularly is the easiest way to prevent permanent marking on the hob surface.

This buffer kit will only fit the models as shown or as specifically advised and will not fit any others, even if it looks the same; it probably won't be, as there are several that look alike yet are not. If you are unsure please don't hesitate to contact us and ask for assistance.

Common Faults & Symptoms

The following symptoms are commonly reported when a set of hob pan support buffers reaches the end of its serviceable life. Use this as a diagnostic guide before ordering a replacement — if more than one of these is present, the buffers are the likely culprit.

1
SCRATCHES APPEARING ON THE HOB SURFACE
The clearest sign that the buffers have failed. Once the rubber feet have worn away or dropped out, the metal pan support sits directly on the glass or stainless steel surface and scores it every time it is lifted for cleaning. The scratches are permanent and cannot be polished out, so the buffers should be replaced as soon as they are missing or worn.
2
PAN SUPPORT ROCKS OR WILL NOT SIT FLAT
Missing or unevenly worn buffers change the height at which the pan support sits on the hob. With one corner lower than the others, the stand rocks when a pan is placed on it and no longer locates properly over the burners, which affects both stability and flame distribution.
3
RUBBER BUFFERS HAVE PERISHED OR DROPPED OUT
Repeated exposure to the heat of the hob slowly hardens and shrinks the rubber feet until they no longer grip the locating holes in the pan support. In some cases they simply fall out during cleaning and are lost. A full replacement set of 12 is the only reliable way to restore the buffers across the whole stand.
4
PAN SUPPORT SLIDES EASILY WHEN A PAN IS MOVED
One of the buffers' jobs is to grip the hob surface lightly and stop the pan support moving as pans are slid on and off it. When the buffers are missing or worn smooth, the stand shifts position during cooking, which is inconvenient and can also expose the hob to further scratching.
5
A RING OF SCRATCHES AROUND EACH BURNER
A particularly distinctive pattern of fine circular scratches around the burners is almost always caused by the pan support resting directly on the hob. It points to the buffers having failed across the whole stand and indicates that replacement is overdue.
6
NOISE WHEN THE PAN SUPPORT IS MOVED
A scraping or grinding noise when the pan support is lifted on and off for cleaning is the sound of metal on the hob surface. It is a clear sign that the buffers are no longer in contact with the hob, and each time the stand is moved, more of the surface is damaged.
7
PAN SUPPORT IS DIFFICULT TO CLEAN OR MARKED AT THE FEET
A perished buffer leaves behind a sticky residue on the underside of the stand, which then picks up debris and becomes hard to clean. In some cases the rubber breaks down into a black smear that transfers to cloths and hob surfaces when the stand is handled.
8
BURNER FLAME PATTERN LOOKS UNEVEN
If the pan support does not sit at the correct height above the burner, the flame can be deflected away from the base of the pan or made to burn unevenly around the ring. This is usually the combined result of missing buffers and a stand that is no longer level on the hob.

Fitment Guidance

This part is compatible only with the models listed in the compatibility matrix above. Even if a part looks visually identical, internal specifications can differ.

  • Confirm your full model number against the Zanussi, Electrolux, REX-Electrolux and IKEA lists on this page before ordering, as buffer kits vary in diameter and locating depth between hob ranges that otherwise look similar.
  • Count the locating holes on the underside of your pan support before ordering to confirm that a pack of 12 provides enough buffers for every position — some larger stands use more than one buffer per corner.
  • Compare the new buffers against the originals for diameter, depth and grip on the locating holes before pressing them into place.
  • Inspect the underside of the pan support while the buffers are being replaced, as distorted or damaged locating holes can prevent replacement buffers from gripping correctly.

Diagnostic Tips

Before concluding that the part has failed, carry out these checks to rule out other causes.

  • LIFT THE PAN SUPPORT AND CHECK THE UNDERSIDE: Turn the stand over and inspect each locating point. Missing or flattened buffers are easy to spot and confirm that replacement is needed.
  • TEST THE SUPPORT ON A FLAT SURFACE: Place the stand on a flat worktop or the hob itself and check for any rock. If the stand moves, the buffers are either worn unevenly or missing from one corner.
  • CHECK THE HOB SURFACE FOR SCRATCHES: A ring of fine circular marks around the burners is the visible result of missing buffers. If scratches are already present, replacement will prevent further damage but will not remove existing marks.
  • CHECK THE BURNER CAPS: A burner cap that is not sitting flat can mimic a rocking pan support. Confirm that the caps and burner rings are correctly seated before assuming the buffers are the cause.
  • VERIFY THE MODEL NUMBER: Electrolux Group brands share a number of similar-looking pan support buffer kits across their ranges. Always confirm the full model number rather than relying on visual appearance alone.

Installation Guide

These steps describe the general procedure. The exact sequence varies between models, so always consult the appliance service manual where available.

  1. Isolate the appliance from the mains supply and, where the hob is gas, confirm the gas supply is turned off at the isolation valve. Allow the hob and pan support to cool completely.
  2. Lift the pan support off the hob and place it upside down on a soft surface such as a folded towel, so the locating points are accessible without scratching the stand.
  3. Remove any remaining old buffers by easing them out of their locating holes. If they have perished and left residue behind, clean the holes carefully with a small brush or cloth.
  4. Clean the underside of the pan support and the locating holes, removing any grease, food debris or hardened rubber that could prevent the new buffers from seating correctly.
  5. Press each new buffer firmly into its locating hole, working around the stand from one end to the other. Check that each buffer sits fully home and grips the hole securely.
  6. Replace the pan support on the hob, aligning it with the burner positions and confirming that it sits level with no rocking.
  7. Restore the gas and power supplies and check that the burner flames are even around each ring. Place a pan on the support to confirm stability before returning the appliance to normal use.

Before Ordering, Check These First

  • Locate the model number on the rating plate, usually found on the underside of the hob or on the rear of the appliance.
  • Match the full model number, including any suffix letters and numbers, against the Zanussi, Electrolux, REX-Electrolux and IKEA lists above.
  • Count the locating holes on the underside of your pan support to confirm the pack of 12 will cover every position.
  • Check the pan support and hob surface for existing damage, as scratches already present will not be removed by fitting new buffers.
  • Verify your full model number with our team if anything is unclear — a quick check avoids an unnecessary return.

Disclaimer: The fault codes and symptoms listed above are intended as a general guide to assist with diagnosis. They cannot be taken as a definitive diagnosis of any particular problem, and other components may produce similar symptoms. Always confirm the fault with proper testing before ordering parts.

Kitchen Technical Support

Oven & Cooker Spare Parts.

Locating your correct model number is the essential first step. Avoid generic user manuals—they often cover multiple chassis types and internal variations that don't apply to your specific unit.

Ovens & Cookers

The rating plate is usually inside the oven door or on the lip of the door opening. For range cookers, check inside the storage drawer or the lower kick-plate.

Built-in Hobs

Hobs present a challenge: the data is typically on the underside. You may need to remove a drawer or look up from inside the cupboard below to view the sticker.

Intelligent Part Filtering

We only list parts with a proven failure rate or those specifically requested by engineers. This limits irrelevant results and ensures you find only what fails, rather than parts that are almost never required.

! Images & Sizes for Information Only

Oven elements and thermostats may vary in shape, terminal position, or wattage from the images shown. Manufacturers frequently alter specifications mid-production.

IMPORTANT: Many heating elements look nearly identical but have different mounting points. Do not rely on visual matching—verify via your model data or ask our specialists.
