Replacement cooker hood carbon filter – compatible with Amica, Caple, CDA, Gorenje, Matrix and SIA as shown unless advised otherwise

Check your cooker hood model number to ensure a guaranteed fit.

Description

This genuine cooker hood carbon filter matches the filter supplied with the appliance when new, restoring effective odour removal in recirculation mode.

As a genuine part, it matches the original manufacturer’s specification for carbon quality, airflow resistance and fit, so it seats correctly in the hood and performs exactly as the original did. Carbon filters trap cooking odours and vapours that pass through the grease filter, and replacing a saturated filter keeps the kitchen fresh and the hood working efficiently.

This circular activated charcoal filter measures 175 mm in diameter and is intended for hoods that recirculate air rather than duct it outside. It fits a number of Amica, Caple, CDA, Gorenje, Matrix, and SIA cooker hood models and is designed to replace the existing carbon filter without modification.

This filter is only known to fit the models shown or as advised and will not fit any others, because even if it looks the same, it probably won't. There will often be several that look alike yet are not, please take time to ensure this is correct before ordering.

Common Faults & Symptoms

The following symptoms are commonly reported when a carbon filter becomes saturated or damaged. Use this as a diagnostic guide before ordering a replacement — if more than one of these is present, the filter is the likely culprit.

1
Lingering Cooking Odours
The most common sign of a saturated carbon filter is that cooking smells remain in the kitchen long after the hood has been running, even on the highest fan speed.
2
Reduced Airflow and Poor Extraction
Clogged or saturated filters restrict airflow, so smoke and steam are not drawn away efficiently. You may notice the hood struggling to clear the air during cooking.
3
Filter Visibly Dirty or Saturated
The carbon media may appear dark, greasy or matted. Unlike metal grease filters, carbon filters cannot be cleaned or regenerated and must be replaced once saturated.
4
Filter Smells Unpleasant
A saturated carbon filter can itself begin to smell unpleasant, especially in humid conditions, because it can no longer adsorb odours effectively.
5
Need for More Frequent Grease Filter Cleaning
When carbon filters are saturated, more grease reaches the metal grease filter, causing it to clog more quickly than usual.
6
Condensation on Kitchen Surfaces
Poor odour and moisture removal can lead to condensation on windows, walls and cabinets during cooking.
7
Visible Damage to the Filter Casing
The frame or mesh around the carbon media may be cracked or deformed, preventing the filter from seating correctly and allowing unfiltered air to bypass it.

Fitment Guidance

This filter is compatible only with the models listed in the compatibility matrix above. Even if a filter looks visually similar, the diameter, thickness and mounting method can differ between hood ranges.

  • The filter is listed for specific Caple, CDA, Gorenje and SIA cooker hood models. The Amica and Matrix listings are marked TBC, so please confirm your model with the parts team.
  • Your full model number, usually found on the rating plate inside the hood or on the motor housing, must match one of the listed codes exactly.
  • Carbon filters are intended for recirculation mode only; ducted installations do not use them.
  • If your model is not listed, contact the parts team with the model and serial number before ordering.

Diagnostic Tips

Before concluding that the carbon filter needs replacing, carry out these checks to rule out other causes.

  • CHECK THE GREASE FILTER: A clogged metal grease filter will reduce airflow and prevent the carbon filter from working, even if it is new.
  • CONFIRM THE HOOD IS IN RECIRCULATION MODE: Carbon filters are only effective when the hood recirculates air. If the hood is ducted outside, a carbon filter is not required.
  • INSPECT FOR DAMAGE: Look for tears, crushed sections or loose carbon granules. Any physical damage means the filter should be replaced.
  • RULE OUT DUCTING OR MOTOR FAULTS: If a clean, correctly fitted filter is in place but extraction is still poor, check the ducting for blockages and the motor for faults.

Installation Guide

These steps describe the general procedure. The exact sequence varies between models, so always consult the appliance instruction manual where available.

  1. Switch off the cooker hood and allow it to cool if it has been in use.
  2. Remove the metal grease filter to gain access to the carbon filter housing.
  3. Release the old carbon filter from its clips or mounting points and remove it from the hood.
  4. Clean the housing area before fitting the new filter.
  5. Position the new carbon filter in the housing and secure it with the existing clips or fixings.
  6. Refit the metal grease filter, then run the hood briefly to confirm normal airflow and no rattling.

Before Ordering, Check These First

  • Confirm that the hood is in recirculation mode and actually uses a carbon filter.
  • Check that the metal grease filter is clean and not restricting airflow.
  • Inspect the old carbon filter for saturation, damage or loose granules.
  • Verify that your model number appears in the compatibility list, character for character.
  • If you are unsure, contact the parts team with your full model and serial number before placing an order.

Disclaimer: The fault codes and symptoms listed above are intended as a general guide to assist with diagnosis. They cannot be taken as a definitive diagnosis of any particular problem, and other components may produce similar symptoms. Always confirm the fault with proper testing before ordering parts.
